Impact a Wake County Child
Jun 07, 2017 02:25PM ● By Grace DrescherRight now, there are children and teens in our very own community who need your support. They need a safe place to go after school that offers fun, structured programming.
Rebeka, a 14 years old Member at our Raleigh Girls Club, was not doing well in school but excelled on the athletic field. Like many kids who first start out at Boys & Girls Clubs, she was not very focused on her academics.
Beyond programming, our Club Staff are well known for inspiring and encouraging youth to do their very best.
Rebeka, a 14 years old Member at our Raleigh Girls Club, was not doing well in school but excelled on the athletic field. Like many kids who first start out at Boys & Girls Clubs, she was not very focused on her academics.
When the Raleigh Girls Club launched its Junior Staff program, Rebeka wanted to be involved. But Junior staff had certain criteria that had to be met, including a B average or better. Club staff took this opportunity to work closely with Rebeka and her teachers to improve her grades. After 6 months, her grades did improve.
For the last two years, she has been an exemplary Junior Staff Member, maintaining A/B grades and remaining very active at the Club!
