Pappas Properties Approved to Build “Crabtree Village”

Pappas Properties,” the Charlotte, NC-based, leading developer of innovative mixed-use developments and wellness-focused communities across the Southeast, announced the unanimous approval from the Raleigh town council to rezone and develop a 65-townhome luxury community in Raleigh, NC next to Crabtree Valley Mall. “Crabtree Village” is the working name, soon to enjoy a permanent brand. Groundbreaking is slated for September 2025.

“We’re grateful for the confidence of the town council in unanimously approving the zoning for the development of this for-lease sixty-five luxury townhome community,” said Peter A. Pappas, CEO of Pappas Properties. “This site is one of the most interesting in the Raleigh market for its prominent location seventy feet above Crabtree Valley.” 

Crabtree Village will include a clubhouse for residents, dog park, and pool. The community will be gated, offering residents secure, private access to one of the highest points in Raleigh. The two-and three-story townhomes will range from 1,600 – 2,000 square feet and will be a mix of two- and three-bedrooms. 

The Crabtree Village is situated overlooking Raleigh’s acclaimed Crabtree Village regional mall. Its North Raleigh location offers easy access to seven major employment centers, including RTP, downtown Raleigh, North Raleigh, Downtown Durham, and Duke Medical Center. Walkable amenities include the numerous restaurants and shops of Crabtree Village and the Crabtree Creek Trail, a greenway for pedestrians and cyclists. 

 The approval marks the fourth site Pappas Properties has rezoned over the last 18 months, including three in Charlotte: Midtown, Cadia Mathews, and Mooresville. Pappas Properties is renowned for other local communities the firm has developed with distinctive curation, including Birkdale Village, Berewick Town Center, Sharon Square, and Metropolitan, the Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute-anchored development among its 14 Charlotte projects, with several more in the pipeline.
